Landra Files: Merry Christmas

What's up Paranormal Addicts!?

Landra Graf here! I haven't posted on this blog in a while but I've been busy hosting the show- The Beyond Natural. Last night our special Christmas episode aired and if you missed it then you can check it out here. The show will air until next Wednesday.

During the show I sang... yes, I know disruption to your ears. Anyways, I sang some Paranormal Christmas tunes. The music you'll recognize but the lyrics are original-- from me. For your own singing pleasure, I've decided to put the lyrics up here on this blog. This way you can enjoy them too. Even if your computer won't let you watch the show or your just a little wrapped up *drum snare* Okay that was a bad joke! :)

First up a Paranormal Jingle *to the tune of Jingle Bells*
Dashing thru the house, a recorder in my hand

Avoiding motion sensors and the DVRs on stands
EMF is clear, Ghost box on the fritz.
Life as paranormal investigator is anything but bliss.
Oh… Laser grids, batteries, K2s, and flash drives
All of this equipment is making me cross-eyed

Oh… Tri-field meters, thermal cams, thermometers and more.
All of this equipment to get through that there door!

A week or two ago is when we got the call. The claims were spooky voicesand photos thrown from walls. We haven’t heard peep, nor footsteps on the
creep. We hope that the review team will catch an EVP
Oh… silent nights, caffeine pills, 5-hour, and some chips.
Gotta keep my eyes open and alert my tired wits.
Oh… blinking lights, espresso shots, pen doodles and more.
Anything to keep me from sleeping on the floor.
Oh… cauliflower ears, carpal tunnel, migraines and tourette’s
How long I can keep this up is any one’s guess
Oh… RLS, insomnia, and the sanity I miss
Life as paranormal investigator is anything but bliss!

And finally the 12 days of Paranormal Christmas *to the tune of the 12 days of Christmas*

One the 1st day of Xmas my team gave to me
An expensive thermal imaging cam

TBN- Landra's Files- The Test Launch

Greetings Paranormal Addicts!
First and foremost- Big Thanks to everyone who stopped by and gave your support to our test launch of The Beyond Natural. We experienced a couple of glitches, but that's the whole purpose of a test right??
I also really enjoyed getting the opportunity to chat with several of you in the chat room. I can't wait for the first episode to air and it's really exciting to share time with all of you!

One thing I learned last night: Ladies if you want to be on television, pigtails will never let you down! Now that's not entirely true, but it can't hurt. I've never received some many comments before about my pigtails, and I have to admit alternative hairstyles might be the way to go. Suggestions for me include a Mohawk. Ha! If anyone else cares to share your suggestions for hairstyles just let me know.

Next up I want to say Kudos to the other hosts on Paranormal TV Network. For those who haven't checked out the other shows, I say go... Right. Now. There is always something on to watch and the other hosts are some of the friendliest, welcoming people. They love answering questions, and getting involved with those interested in the paranormal. Call it a shameless plug if you want, but these folks have made me feel extremely welcome on PTN. I honestly didn't expect it and was a tad bit timid about interacting with them. Let's just say shock doesn't begin to cover what I felt when the hosts started logging into the chat and getting friendly. If that doesn't say "Welcome Neighbor!" I don't know what does.

For those who missed the test, which was a little teaser episode showing everyone what's coming, you can check it out at http://www.paranormaltvnetwork.com/beyond_natural.html The teaser will continue to air until our launch date Wed. August 31st at 9pm CST/10pm EST.
I'm really excited about the first episode and I hope to blog an after post on here following each episode!

Also, don't forget I'm looking for clips. Send me the best you've got. I want photos, video, audio... bring me those anomalies that you can't figure out. You're flying thingies, and everything else. We're looking for investigation clips too! Show me your style, and share with others. We're all about getting knowledge on The Beyond Natural. Let's educate others on the paranormal together. Check out this post, for more info on how to submit!

Thanks again everyone! Hope to see you August 31st. Till then Keep it Safe!

Looking to the future

Looking to the future. I believe that we, as paranormal investigators, researchers, or enthusiasts, should remind everyone and ourselves that we have many members in the paranormal field, and that many of them have their own view on the paranormal. Not faith

(I would rather say 'faith' than religion because it is less combative) so much as the paranormal. Although faith does play a role in some paranormal beliefs.

When we see a different view on things we should not combat it with our own, so much as learn

from it as a different method and respect it as such. To combat would only create hate and discontent, and that is not what being an investigator or researcher is all about.

We know our point of view, others are not going to change it, and our view is not going

to change theirs. We have to respect that and not try. That's what I do. I consider it a earn as you learn program, lol.

Earn others respect as you learn more about your craft.

When I was a rookie in law enforcement, an old and decorated detective told me, "If you ever start to feel as if you have heard it all and seen it all, you need to quit and go work for Burger King (lol) Cause you are just going to get someone hurt or killed."

I believe that goes for the paranormal field, as well as every endeavor for that matter. Even though our member's and others have seen a lot, for people to see, they can't see and experience things from someone else's point of view. I think we all need to remember that the paranormal is extremely vast and spans the globe, and the sharing of experiences

on different sites only increase the collective knowledge of paranormal researchers and investigators everywhere. We are here to learn, not fight.

What I think about the bad guys

When dealing with demons, malicious spirits, poltergeists, or another inhuman entity, the information below was how I was raised to understand how they attack and how to repel them. This does not mean to say that I am against other thought processes or beliefs on the matter and I am indeed interested in hearing other thoughts on the matter.
Things (demons, malicious spirit, etc.) usually try to keep you in fear, intimidated, and tired. This is where you will sense a strong presence of being watched and they get real close to you so you can feel them around you. Other times it may stay back and move little things so that you can hear something moving but can't see it. This is just to increase fear. It is trying to wear you down. Other ways they attack is to play with your emotions. If something makes you sad or mad, they whisper to you so that you dwell on whatever it is, unknowingly to you of course.

The way to fight this, you have to stand your ground and keep your faith in the Lord strong. My advice is to stay strong in your faith and spirit. The worse you get the stronger the thing gets. Have no fear and recite Psalms 91 and the Lord’s prayer every night before you go to bed. For good measure a couple times during the day doesn’t hurt either. HAVE FAITH IN AND BELIEVE EVERY WORD. It doesn’t hurt to even recite the prayers every night, regardless if you have activity or not.

If the noises, whispers, and strange emotions come back don't let it work. Every time this happens say your prayers loud and proud, or to yourself, but be casual and calm while you are doing it. Things (demons, malicious spirits, etc.) like this feed off your emotions: fear, sadness, hate, lust and so on. If you have a bad day or someone makes you mad, blow it off, don't let it get to you, and stay happy. I know it is hard but don't fall for it and keep love in your heart.

Since meeting Rich, STPI’s House Cleanser and a Minister, he has re-confirmed the practices and beliefs mentioned.

If needed, I hope this helps. Feel free to share your own thoughts and beliefs on the subject.

The Beyond Natural- Landra's Files

Greetings Paranormal Enthusiasts!

I decided that I, Landra, have been a silent for too long. He he... Here I am hosting a paranormal web show and all anyone hear's is interviews and details on cases', evidence, and the tidbit of what I like to deem as paranormal general info.

Hosting the show is great, although challenging at times because I have an extremely demanding schedule. I do more than host. I help with website maintenance, public relations for TBN (The Beyond Natural), and research paranormal topics through watching videos, visiting other sites, and learning.

When I was approached with hosting the show I wanted to make sure that the show's goals aligned with my own. I don't just want to talk about cases (highlights and evidence). Don't get me wrong, seeing is believing lol! At the same time I want to bring clips of not just the exciting or scary things that can occur, but clips that make you learn and develop investigator skills.

Let's just it's a little difficult to do. I know there are tons of opinions and belief structures. A person's beliefs are usually formed from experience, as with everything in life. I don't want to force any of our practices on anyone, just give some best practices and other potential things to think about. Stimulation of the mind per se.
The show is really about connecting, presenting different belief systems, and covering the topics that you don't always get a lot of answers on.
Unfortunately I am only receiving the views of STPI and a few others. I would love to see more interaction and thoughts on the information presented either via comments on our videos or by simply emailing STPI with your thoughts on a topic. Heck, make your video with your opinions and send it to me! I want to hear what you think.

So far we have had interviews on Paranormal Basics, The Ghost Box, Reincarnation, Spiritual Healing, Sensitives, Religion and the Paranormal, and Paranormal Tech. I can say with complete honesty that our guest gurus answers may not always be in agreement with other beliefs or even my own, but I like providing a different look at things. I was taught to see things from both sides, and be able to respectfully acknowledge the side that you would not necessarily agree with.

That being said, I can only hope that TBN continues to flourish and that we continue to receive positive, constructive feedback that will allow us to cover the topics paranormal investigators and others want to know more about. Even if that means we present the information with the alternative points of view.

-Landra Graf, Host of The Beyond Natural

P.S. I want to say BIG THANKS to our regular viewers of the show. I appreciate you.

Motto Clarity

I get asked frequently, ‘What the heck does your team motto mean?’ or the comment ‘That motto is a little presumptuous, isn’t it?’ This post is to explain all of that.

Team Name: Supernatural Truth Paranormal Investigations

Team Motto: ‘The above normal searching for the beyond natural.’

As I mentioned in a previous post the definition of paranormal is ‘anything beyond the normal range of experience or scientific explanation’. Supernatural is defined as ‘anything above or beyond what one holds to be natural or exists outside natural law and the observable universe’. That being said, let’s break the motto down in comparison to our name.

In essence are motto states the combination of the Supernatural and Paranormal, and the search for the things outside of natural law that are beyond scientific explanation. Also another way of looking at it:

‘Above Normal’- investigators are essentially above normal because each and everyone one of us, on any team, has experienced something beyond the normal range of experience or something paranormal. Therefore our motto does not mean that our investigators are better than anyone else or that we exist at a higher level than others. It merely means that the people who work in the paranormal investigation field have had their scope and understanding of normal reality altered.

‘Beyond Natural’- this is based on the definitions of the words paranormal and supernatural. If something is beyond scientific explanation then it can be deemed beyond the natural order of the world as humans basically know it to be.

Hopefully this will help everyone understand the motto a little better.

Happy and safe Hunting

Fact vs. Theory

I recently heard a quote from a poet, Maya Angelou- "There's a world of difference between facts and truth. Facts can obscure the truth."

The person who posted this quote infered this from the quote:

As this applies to the study of the paranormal, what is fact to one is not
fact to another. Imagine what wonderous truths are hidden behind the facts of
non-believers....
Just a thought...

Now I do believe this is a good quote, but the quote relating to the paranormal... I tend to disagree. Simply because of the word 'fact'. In the paranormal field as of now there are no facts, only theories. My theories may not match yours or anyone else's. Through science and scientific equipment we are trying to prove are theories as fact.

The definition of paranormal is:

par·a·nor·mal (pr-nôrml) adj.
Beyond the range of normal experience or scientific explanation: such paranormal phenomena as telepathy; a medium's paranormal powers.

If something is beyond scientific explanation then it would not be fact, merely a hypothesis awaiting to be proven. Hence those theories would have
no truth... yet.

So I find it humorous when people attempt to prove the paranormal does not exist or they attempt to disprove people's paranormal theories (this doesn't include the original poster of the quote above). How can you prove something doesn't exist when the paranormal is essentially what exists outside of our experiences and scientific explanation? Again it only leaves you with theories.

Which leads to the next point: If you were to prove any type of paranormal theory existed then essentially it would not be paranormal anymore as it would now fall within a scientific explanation.

What do you think?

Why we don't charge?

Why we don’t charge?

The most frequently asked question that crosses my path about our paranormal team is: “How much do you charge?”

To me it’s a silly question because the answer is: “We don’t. The service is free.”

I can see how this may seem a little out of the ordinary because in the world we live in if you provide a service then typically it costs something. Well for this paranormal team, and for the majority of those out there, if you are in need of our services we won’t charge you a dime. Here are a few of my reasons why:

How do you put a price on peace of mind?

-For most people experiencing paranormal activity or strange occurrences in their home it becomes something unnerving. Those that seek the services of a paranormal team usually want some sort of confirmation that they are not going crazy and/or they want to get rid of whatever is plaguing them. Even if we, our team, can’t get rid of it, we usually know someone who can help. Our job is to come in and help confirm our client’s suspicions or provide them with the knowledge that what they are experiencing is not paranormal at all. Either way we don’t feel right in naming a price that comes with providing some sort of reassurance.

Wouldn’t you feel scammed?

-When our team conducts an investigation we are asking for one thing from our client’s, their time. With interview phone calls, on-site meeting, and the investigation, our client’s are asked to give up several hours of their time to speak of their experiences and concerns. Why would we charge someone for that? Personally I wouldn’t pay someone for taking up my time. So, we don’t ask our clients to.

No guarantees

-The paranormal field is full of unknown’s. That’s why it’s called the ‘paranormal’. That being said experiences/ entities/ ghosts or whatever you call it don’t always act on cue. We can’t make anything appear to us, nor can we guarantee that the night of your investigation we will catch something. The only 100% guarantee is that our team will show up and investigate your location to the fullest extent within our abilities. Actual proof is not 100%. I wouldn’t pay for a service if I knew the results weren’t 100%, so why ask our clients too? We don’t.

You are helping us!

-I can’t speak for all paranormal teams, but most of them investigate to gather research and information about the paranormal. By sharing your experiences with us and allowing our team into your life and home for a short period, we are given the change to expand our knowledge. Essentially our clients make add to a pool of paranormal experiences and research that will only make what we do better and enrich the paranormal field. Why charge clients to increase our knowledge? It would be like paying a college to educate them.

Bottom line: We do what we do to help others, to gain knowledge about the unseen, unheard, and untouchable around us. You cannot put a price on piece of mind, a person’s time, and the expansion of the mind.

UPI

By: Destin Day

This post is for paranormal researchers, societies, investigators, and enthusiasts to help build awareness for a Paranormal site that I am a part of.

I am the Director of Arkansas at UPI (United Paranormal International). My goal and my team's is to help others, with our knowledge and investigation abilities, by providing an unbiased and detailed approach to paranormal research and investigation. I, myself, am not quick to judge on paranormal claims, evidence, or experiences and take things with an open ear and mind.

I have found a place where paranormal aware people gather to help others in this field. I would like to open the door to others to come and take a look. I feel that if we all band together we can learn more and advance in all areas of the paranormal. UPI is not a team, society, or competitor. It is simply a community, a place for us to meet, talk, and gain information.

Last week I had a case that stumped me and I got help from a very knowledgeable member in Africa so UPI is also great source of information and a good resource for your team or society.

I look forward to getting to know everyone at UPI as well as sharing and learning from others experiences. I hope to see some of you there. *Click the banner below to visit UPI.

What are you using?

One of the biggest topics of discussion between paranormal teams is equipment and which equipment is being used.

While equipment is important and even bigger topic, in my opinion, is software. What software are you using to review evidence, photos, compile evidence into videos for clients, and keep track of information.

Do you burn DVDs or files onto disk for future reference?

ODP (Overly Debunking Paranormal)?

ODP

Is there a such thing as ODP(Overly Debunking Paranormal)? I happen to think so if you do tell me what you think.
I think there is a point you don't go beyond. I mean don't explain it away unless you physically went out and conducted your own tests on the exact footage you are trying to debunk. We have all seen dust, water, bug orb's or even emf orb's light flair and even double exposure. So that is not hard to recognize, but when I see one of the above I still look hard. Because let's face it, it only takes once to mess up lol. But when you get something that looks out of the ordinary it probably is. I have had the best ODP's out there look at my evidence and call it a bug, dust, lint, etc. Even though I have ran every test that I and my tech manager (Mike), who is an ODP himself by the way, can think of. They chuckle when I tell them "I have tested there claim's" and they go on believing their claims lol. All I can say is when your debunking your evidence if you can't recreate it call it what it is.
